Are you an animal lover looking for a meaningful volunteer experience? Our volunteers support every area of Kokomo Humane. By choosing to volunteer, you will make a tremendous difference in the lives of the animals in our care. Help us work towards creating a more humane community for all Hoosier animals by giving your time, and your heart!
Volunteer Requirements
Minimum Age
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age in order to independently volunteer at the shelter and at our off-site adoption locations. Youth under the age of 16 must have an adult present while volunteering.
Time Commitment
In order to remain active in the KHS Volunteer Program, all volunteers are encouraged to commit to a minimum of four service hours per month.
Volunteer Orientation
Prior to being able to independently volunteer, all approved applicants must attend a tour of the shelter where you will learn about KHS’s history and lifesaving mission.
How Do I Sign Up to Become a Volunteer?
Signing up to become a volunteer is easy! If you are interested in one of our open volunteer opportunities, please fill out our online application form.
To become a volunteer, begin by completing our online application form. Next, you’ll complete a volunteer orientation session where you will receive and review the KHS Volunteer Handbook, learn about KHS’s history and lifesaving mission, and tour the shelter to meet our adoptable pets!
