Foster Program
Foster families benefit the Kokomo Humane Society by providing temporary homes and much needed care for:
- Animals with minor medical needs
- Animals needing additional socialization or time out of the shelter
- Animals that are pregnant, nursing, or too young to be adopted
KHS Foster Families provide extra care to animals, helping them find homes faster by nurturing them in a home environment, which enhances their well-being compared to our kennels.
Consider welcoming one of our furry friends as a temporary guest in your home. Pet foster parents must have their own animals up to date on vaccines (excluding Rabies), which we are happy to provide for free!

Foster Requirements
Step 1: Application
To foster at the KHS shelter, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and either be listed on the lease or one of the homeowners.
Step 2: Assessment
We appreciate your patience as we review your pet foster parent application within a few business days.
Step 3: Appointment
KHS Foster Coordinator will contact you to schedule an appointment after application approval. You will receive a foster manual and any questions can be answered at this time.

Donation drop-off info:
Donations can be dropped off at the following days and times using our intake doors facing Hoffer St:
Monday,Wednesday & Thursday 12-6pm
Tuesday & Friday 12-5pm
Saturday 10-5pm
